Labor to invest in $18.3 million for South West Aboriginal Health Hub

An Albanese Labor Government will provide $18.3 million for an Indigenous health hub in Bunbury.

Demand for health services in the south-west is growing sharply, and the Federal Government has simply given up trying to make sure people get the care they need. 

South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) saw patient numbers grow 20% from 2017-2020. Labor’s investment will make sure they can deliver the high level of service that makes a real difference to the lives of Indigenous people in the region. 

The new facility funded through Labor’s commitment will mean SWAMS can provide whole-of-life care for a new generation of mums, children and youth in a culturally appropriate and welcoming setting. 

The new South West Aboriginal HealthHUB will provide a full range of services to support people to live happy, healthy and functional lives, including Primary Health, Community Health, Maternal and Child Health Care, Aged Care and Disability services. 

The Health HUB will offer an innovative, world-class facility to the South West with an emphasis on technology and research which will capture data that is so sorely lacking for Aboriginal people across the country. 

Only an Albanese Labor Government will invest in the health infrastructure Australia and the Bunbury community needs.
