The Government's Stronger Community Grants are a fantastic way to recognise our amazing local community organisations and the people who volunteer their time for them.

They don’t do it for the thanks, but it's still important we recognise what they do for our communities by giving back.

Here are what some of local Barton groups are doing with their Grants.

The Fix-it Sisters Shed in Kyeemagh are putting their hands and minds to work by getting on the tools and building something beautiful.

They’re not just making useful things, they’re also building a welcoming community for women of all ages.

They’ve put a Grant to good use with new workbenches and storage facilities that will help them continue their important work - including huts for endangered penguins!

Community facilities give our community places to play and learn.

PCYC St George have put a Stronger Communities Grant into improving their amenities so that people of all ages can make the most of the space, from the Rockdale Seniors Basketball Club to school holiday programs.

Gumnut Early Learning Centre in Hurstville has been able to upgrade their baby changing and bathing facilities thanks to the Government’s Stronger Community Grants.

CASS Care do a wonderful job of providing childcare and setting up children for school and beyond.

Groups like CASS Care play such an important role in our local communities providing care for the little ones, right through to older people.
Groups like the Scouts brings families in our communities together, through fun, learning - and the occasional bit of adventure!
1st Hurstville Scouts are one of the oldest troupes in Australia, and a Stronger Communities Grant has helped them to refurbish their heritage Scout Hall.
Now more generations of Scouts can enjoy the challenges and sense of community that Scouting provides.
